Press Room - Application Tips
SUMMER 2004:
REVIVING THE BRONZE AGE
(LOS
ANGELES, Feb. 2004)–Pale is passé and sun-kissed skin
is in, according to red-carpet style arbiters, haute couture spreads
and celebrity skin. But since premature aging and skin cancer will
never be hip, the makers of Fake Bake sunless tanners have compiled
useful tips for getting a great tan...in your bathroom.
THE PERFECT SCRUB: For even application of any sunless tanner, start
by exfoliating in the shower with a good fruit scrub. After showering,
spray a dry oil (such as Skin Smoothie Oil) onto areas such as knees,
elbows, feet and knuckles that are prone to dryness. Applying dry
oil prevents over-absorption of the tanning product.
GLOVE YOU LONG TIME: Put on latex gloves before applying self-tanner.
If you get it on your hands, wash up with fresh lemon juice (and,
no, lemonade won’t cut it). Keep some paper towels and a little
dry oil handy. If you put too much product in one area, spritz a
little oil on the paper towel and gently pass it over the area to
even out application. Insider Tip: Do like the make-up artists and
dampen a cosmetic sponge with water to blend a small amount of Fake
Bake from wrists to hands, and ankles to feet. For your face, mix
equal parts moisturizer with Fake Bake and apply with gloved fingers.
BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON: For deep, long-lasting results, perform
this entire regimen at night. When using Fake Bake (good enough
for Britney and Madonna, so are we really gonna argue?), let the
tanner dry for about five minutes before slipping into old sweats
or pajamas and dark-colored socks. The mocha-tinted color guide
will rub off on the inside of clothing, but rinses out in the wash.
Go to bed wearing Fake Bake, shower off the chocolate color-guide
in the morning & behold your beauteous, bronzed body.
